What is Vlogging?

ree

Video production is a broad term used to refer to the process of creating a video by capturing moving images. A vlog is essentially just what the name implies: a form of a blog in which the medium is video. More and more people are flipping the camera on themselves and “writing” their blogs by speaking about a topic or simply recording their day.

Adam Kontras is the first person ever credited with creating the world’s first vlog. Kontras set off on a cross-country road trip to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of being in show business, and he wrote blog entries along the way to inform his friends and family of his adventures. On January 2, 2000, he posted a video with his first blog entry, and there was born the first vlog.

Vlogging saw a strong increase in popularity beginning in 2005, likely due to the launch of YouTube in February 2005, which has since become the most popular video sharing site to date. By July 2006, it had become the fifth most popular web destination, with 100 million videos viewed daily and 65,000 new uploads per day.

Travel Vlogging

Travel Vlogging, again as the name suggests is the act recording your trips and travels. Travel Vlogging is fun as who wouldn’t want to travel to exotic destinations, vlog their adventures and have millions of viewers’ wanderlust over their travels. It sounds like a dream life when you can make money out of it for the people who love to travel.

How to Become a Travel Vlogger?

When people talk about “travel”, they are usually referring to expensive excursions thousands of miles away from your home. But no rule says you have to go far away from your home to travel.

  1. The first step is incorporating travel into your life. You can visit parks, check out art galleries, take a train to a nearby city, or drive to a neighboring state for a weekend excursion.

  2. The audience wants to see a great story, so make sure you’re all out there! There is no right time to chase what you want. Put your working gloves on, bring out your camera, and just start filming your adventures. And don’t worry about your budget or equipment.

  3. People out there would love to see you have fun on a budgeted trip. Vlogging is about 10% of equipment and 90% story. Be passionate about travel. If you don’t have the passion for it, chances are you might not put in all your full efforts.

  4. An effortless job is a job half done and more importantly, Vlogging, if done without passion never gives the true joy of the experience.

  5. Connect with likeminded people. Meeting other likeminded people, whether online or in person, will help you feel like you’re not alone in this travel game.

  6. They can also be a great source of inspiration and drive you to keep traveling yourself! Instagram and Twitter are great resources for connecting with other travelers.
